Apple Keynote, Oct ‘08: no news on iPhone front

October 15, 2008

The light indeed turned towards MacBooks this time. The only tidbit of information concerning the iPhone was …that the headphones were compatible with the newly released notebooks.

It seems however that the touchpad trend launched by the iPhone has given new ideas to Apple, as the new trackpads are now button-less and feature finger movements. Can’t wait to see that (my current MacBook seems very old suddenly)!

New iPhone firmware on Friday

September 10, 2008

Steve Jobs announced some new products at the Let’s Rock event.

You can catch a rerun on Apple website.

Apart from the 4th generation iPod Nanos and the new iPod Touch (looks really thin), a new iTunes was announced for immediate download (HD shows & Genius playlists are some of the improvements). A new iPhone firmware, 2.1, will be delivered on Friday.

Promised changes include no more App crashes, faster backup, less call drops, better battery life (let’s hope so!) and undetailed bug fixes.

The background push notification was noticeably not talked about.
